About the service

FocusBlock is a free focus timer built around the Pomodoro Technique. Every minute you stay focused becomes one block that drops and stacks on screen, and when a cycle finishes those blocks pour into a jar you keep. The goal is to leave focused time as something you can see, rather than as a number that disappears.

No account is required — it runs in any desktop or mobile browser. Your sessions, settings and skins are stored only on your own device (browser local storage) and are never sent to our servers.

Why it was built

Focused time leaves nothing behind once it is over. Even after a productive day of studying or working, the sense of achievement fades quickly, which makes the habit hard to keep.

FocusBlock turns the passing of time itself into blocks that stack up on screen and collect into jars. It keeps the accuracy you expect from a timer, while giving you a reason to say "one more cycle".

We also publish guides on the Pomodoro Technique and focus in general — not only how to use the timer, but how to work out why you cannot focus and how to split your time for different kinds of study and work.

Advertising

The Service may display ads to cover running costs such as hosting and the domain. Ads are never shown while the focus phase is running: they appear only on the break screen and on the guide articles.
