FocusBlock — a Focus Timer Where Effort Becomes Blocks

FocusBlock is a free, no-signup focus timer where every minute of focus becomes a block that falls and stacks up on screen. It turns the classic Pomodoro Technique — 25 minutes of focus followed by a 5-minute break — into an experience where your effort is literally visible.

The blocks you build up are poured into "jars." The more you focus — 1, 5, 10, and 50 hours — the more your collection grows and the more block skins you unlock. It’s a focus timer for studying, exam prep, remote work, coding, and anyone who wants to concentrate better.

Get started in 3 simple steps

  1. ① Set your time

Just pick your focus time, break time, and number of sets. The default is 25 minutes of focus and a 5-minute break, but you can adjust it to your own rhythm.

  2. ② Start and focus

Press start and a block drops every minute, stacking up from the bottom. The longer you focus, the more the screen fills — your focus takes shape.

  3. ③ Break and fill the jar

When focus ends, it’s break time. Your stacked blocks are poured into a jar and saved. Repeat, and your collection keeps growing.

What is the Pomodoro Technique?

The Pomodoro Technique is a time-management method created by Francesco Cirillo in the 1980s. You focus for 25 minutes, take a 5-minute break, and repeat — with a longer break after every four sets.

Short deadlines make focus easier to sustain, and regular breaks prevent fatigue and boredom. It’s an effective way to concentrate better and beat procrastination.

Frequently asked questions

Is FocusBlock free?

Yes. Every feature is free with no signup. There’s no account to create and nothing to install — just open it in your browser and start.

Can I change the timer lengths?

Yes. Focus time, break time, and the number of sets are all adjustable. The default is 25 minutes of focus and a 5-minute break, but you can set 15, 50, or any length that fits your rhythm.

Does it work on mobile?

Yes. It runs in the browser on phones, tablets, and computers. Add it to your home screen to launch it like an app (PWA) and use it offline.

Where is my data stored?

Your focus history and settings are stored on your own device (in the browser’s local storage). Nothing is sent to a server, so your privacy is protected without any login.

What do the blocks and jars mean?

One block stacks up for each minute of focus, visualizing how much you’ve concentrated. The blocks are saved into jars, and completing 1h, 5h, 10h, and 50h jars unlocks new skins.

Are there sounds or notifications?

Sound effects play at the start and end of focus and breaks (you can turn them off). Where supported, a system notification lets you know even when the app isn’t open.
